lesson 17 reflection.

Blake Brewer

This is the brochure i choose to write my reflection on. It is a full color, tri-fold brochure. Overall i like this brochure, the graphics show employees willing to work with their patients. i also like the red, white, and blue which is patriotic. However i wish they actually wrote how they help people. All it list is a 4-man contact list. Good visuals bad written information.

Also i think my indesign composite turned out very well

Mar 27- April 2

I have to say personally im not a very big fan of illustrator. I like the fact that i can create my own art in illustrator but i am more fond of using pre-made pictures to design and edit. Part of the problem is im not very creative on the fly, i need time to create and in this class that is something we lack. I'm still working on lesson 12 and 13 so i cant really comment on those until they're complete. Overall i like illustrator but to a certain degree

Photoshop Compilation and first impressions of Illustrator

This week we got an introduction to illustrator and i have to say i think it will be more dependent on our artistic abilities. Unlike photoshop, we will need to be the ones creating the base pictures rather than pulling them in off a camera or the internet. I think ill like photoshop better because i can be artistic but i can draw my inspiration off a base picture. For my Photoshop Composition i am planning to do a ad for Whitefish, Montana. I have already begun work by adding text and effects and also cut away from a ski picture to insert a shot of the sunny sky. I still need to work on some mask and gradient effects, but i think it will turn out well.

Dragon Drink

This was the bottle picture i made for our lesson 6 design. I named my soda Dragon Drink and used a picture of a tribal dragon for my logo. Rather than using a Rectangle for my logo shape i tried to use a circle however it became somewhat uneven making a dip at the bottom. I went tohttp://abduzeedo.com/smoke-type-photoshop-10-steps to make a smoke effect for my custom text. You can see the wavy and transparent text that reads BMB. The smoke design was very intensely focussed on filters like blur for the rising text and wave distortion for the wavy design. This isn't the best example of the smoke design because the area for the text is small, but i can make a better text effect with more room.

Feburary 7-11

This week i learned a lot about how to select parts of images effectively. I think the Magnetic Lasso tool will be a great tool to use in later projects; but only if i can get non-pixileated pics. I wasn't able to complete this assignment in one class period, but i know how to do this assignment. I will have this done

Photo Assignment

The First picture is a woman on an escalator and is an example of leading lines. The file format was a jpeg. Considering this is was found on the web it is very high quality. For the style of picture that it is the photo format is very appropriate.

The second photo is a silhouette of church steeples and framed by the arch. It was nice to combine both framing and silhouette together in one photo. Once again the file format was a jpeg.

The last picture's composition is framing but it also is simple. There is very little noise in the background. The cat almost completely dominates the frame. The file format was a jpeg. (shocker)

Homework Assignment

This first advertisement is for the blockbuster hit the Dark Knight. This advertisement uses proportion to show that the Joker is a extreme threat to the city. It also tries to make Batman to be less powerful than him by making the Batman logo so small on him. I think this was an clever idea to show off the villain for this film.

The second advertisement for Star Wars Episode 3. This is a clever idea for an advertisement because the three lights look like light sabers. It uses the rhythm to capture the attention of people walking or driving by the street. Although it would be more effective if they hid the box at the top that the lights are connected to.
